Get on top of the list!

It’s one thing to be “on” someone’s list…it’s another thing to be on the TOP of that list. Sure, this is often about proper branding, standing out from the crowd, offering a product or service that’s perfect for your clients. But, there’s another crucial ingredient you need to have.

You need to be an AUTHORITY in your industry. This is how to get to the top of the list and remain top of mind. Being the first person or company that comes to mind when an issue or need arises is key to success. Your clients may not constantly be in need of your product or service, but when they are, you need to be confident that you’re the FIRST that comes to mind.

Right about now you’re probably thinking “Yeah, that makes sense, but how do I do it?” Excellent question, my fellow authorities!

Over the last 12 years I’ve not only built my profile but the profiles of television and media personalities including Peter Morrissey, Gai Waterhouse, Ryan Fitzgerald (Fitzy), Zoe Bingley-Pullin and many more. Today, I want to share with you a few tips to increasing YOUR profile to boost your “Authority” status.

1 – Be A Hustler

Create a list of all metro and regional media that your ideal clients are consuming and pitch them ideas. From morning television shows to your local radio station – everyone is looking for content. Here’s a tip: They LOVE people commenting on relevant news stories that have happened over the last 24 hours.

2 – Be A Movie Star

Writing is important, but videos are the way forward. Record your thoughts and upload it to YouTube or Vimeo. Share your thoughts and ideas through your social networks and watch your profile (and your authority status) get a boost!

3 – Be “Maria”

When Maria sung “The Hills Are Alive” on that massive mountain there was no one around! But…she still wanted to share her thoughts and feelings. My point here is to get out there and speak! Go to networking groups, breakfast events, after hours get-togethers and start sharing your knowledge with people.
