I have to be honest, this was not the newsletter that was meant to be going out to you this morning! But…I was having one of those evenings when I was trying to sleep but couldn’t turn off my brain. I started to reflect on a lot of things including where it all began for me and how I got here.
Some of you who receive my newsletter know me personally while some of you don’t know me quite as well. Some of you are my clients, some of you are my family and some of you are my friends so I wanted to take the opportunity today to share a few things with you.
I grew up in Camden, which is 68KM from Sydney in a South West direction. It’s a smallish town with a couple of people there…well, ok, more than a couple of people, but you get the idea. I’m an only child and was raised by my Mum (Single Mum) living in housing commission until I moved out when I was 21. My Mum worked very hard, check that…BEYOND hard…to give me a wonderful life but more than that she supported me in everything I did.
BUT… she loved the football. I still remember those Friday nights sitting in front of the lounge watching the football and cheering at the television. I think Mum always wanted me to be a Rugby League player. I did soccer, tennis, gymnastics, T-ball… you name it. The thing is, I never felt like any of those activities really clicked. Then one day some of my friends at school told me to go along to dance group at lunch time…and the rest is history!
Although I know at the time Mum wasn’t too keen on the fact she had a son that danced, I still remember those words she said to me when I told her I wanted to join the dance group… “I just want you to be happy. Do what makes you happy, Clint”. There are certain moments, phrases, words that stick with all of us throughout life. For me…those words had a profound impact on my life.
Ever since that moment those words have circulated through my head and I’m forever grateful for her encouragement and love throughout the years as I’ve pursued my passion. Following my passion has cost me loads of money. I’ve had my failures (more than I care to admit) but I’ve also achieved amazing success. This is not meant to convey bravado…far from it. The goal of this story is to share with you what is possible in life!
What it really comes down to as I lie in bed right now is that I can honestly say that I’ve never been happier.
So today I wanted to ask you a question. Are you happy? Are you happy in your life? Are you happy in your business or career?
It’s a pretty simple question…but it’s profound, isn’t it? Some of you might even be angry reading this because you are admitting to yourself that you’re not happy and you know that things need to change in your life and business in order for you to be happy!
If you are upset…that’s cool. I’m a big boy and I can take it. I can take it because I know my goal isn’t for you to like me 100% of the time. My goal is to make you think, grow, and develop and THAT’S what I’m here to help you with! If you’re not happy with the way things are and you’re ready to make some changes, I am here to help you.
I posted something on Facebook last week that obviously resonated with a few people and I wanted to share it with you as it connects to my newsletter today… We can go for years searching on the outside for that magic ingredient that will take us to the next level. Then one day, we realise we had what we needed all along. Don’t underestimate the power within.
Take some time today to make your happiness a priority.
